The Calculations Behind "Mad Men"!

You know that we are big fans of AMC's Mad Men around here at The Flaming Nose, but we also like to read articles that eschew sentiment and delve into the nitty-gritty of television economics, such as this fascinating article at TV By The Numbers! Is Mad Men worth it? the article asks. It depends, as you will read. Lots of discussion in the comments section also, don't skip that part...

What an interesting article Lisa! Who runs "By the Numbers?" They must have to subscribe to Nielsen to write these articles. It looks like they have Gorilla Nation placing their ads? I should write for this website!

A bigger point for me is whether the excruciating slow pace of Mad Men this season is worth it. It definitely is for me, I'd watch Don Draper watching paint dry. But I think patience is wearing thin for a lot of folks. Also, I think Betty Draper is turning into Psychopath Mom. And the whole pot smoking in the office scene was so dark and dour and humorless. Didn't they ever watch Harold and Kumar or Cheech and Chong? I thought getting high was supposed to make people funnier? They didn't even come up with some decent creative for Bacardi!!!!
