I think it's a shame she got blasted so for that admittedly heavy mistake on live TV. I have to imagine that sort of thing happens all the time, and it's the job of the producers and TDs to tell her she's still on air, or to lower her mike volume at the right time. Maybe I'm naive, but it seems like just as much the fault of these people (or the goof that prompted the comment) as it was Sue's.
And the idiocy of the You Tube people, taking this down off the site. Grow up, people, it's news. Anyway, it's not really the word that was offensive, it was the dragon-esque was in which it was spat out that was the real issue, I think. Though I do think politeness and professionalism obviously has its place in the media world, and while I do not want to see a TV landscape which throws these words around cavalierly without good reason, I think we need to get over our shock at bad language. One of the things I enjoy about writing for the net is my ability to write reviews with curse words in them. This is something I've never seen a reviewer do, and it's high time the ceiling was broken. Because curse words can be effective, if used in the place where, frankly, no other word will do. Least, that's the way I see it.
By the way, what's The Nose's policy on publishing comments with the harshest of curse words in them (if appropriate, that is)?
