That was absolutely fascinating. A rotary car phone in 1968! That's like seeing one of those big old Uni-Vac mainframe computers that fills a whole room. Ancient history. Robbie the Robot! I also loved the empty hills of Malibu, which are now filled with million dollar McMansions built shoulder to shoulder. I have a huge interest in California circa 1967-70. I didn't get here until 1976, so I feel like I missed a lot of. At the top of the list would be seeing Jim Morrison and the Doors live at one of the clubs on Sunset. Boy oh boy, if I had a time machine! Hey thanks for this Scott! Terrific!
I LOVED Mod Squad and don't think I ever missed an episode save for this pilot. The rotary car phone is indeed fascinating, as are all these old clips you've found. Okay, now I need your help remembering the name of one popular but short-lived show. I watched it in my parents Warwick bedroom every weekend, I think Saturday nights, in 1969 or 70. The show was about a family of brothers in a Western town in the late 1800s...I think it had something to do with logging. Each episode usually revolved around the youngest brother (a Davey Jones-type teen) who was cute. I'm sure most of the viewers were girls my age who had a crush on him. Don't think the show never went to syndication...it just disappeared. Recognize it, anyone?
