NBC hasn't posted this skit from the past weekend's Saturday Night Live, but it was one of the funniest, especially for guest host Jon Hamm's dead-on and drop-dead funny impersonation of actor James Mason. I'm hoping YouTube hasn't taken it down yet -- here it is:
I thought you'd like it!
OH MY GOD, Hamm is completely hilarious. Now I extra, extra love him. Not only that, I think I'm finally going to have to start recording SNL again. Jeez, talk about a lapsed viewer. I have not watched regularly in over 15 years.
ReplyDeleteI hope Michael C. Hall is not reading the Flaming Nose, because he will be jealous. Last season we were bonkers for Dexter, but now it's all about the fabulous Don Draper. Not that we don't still love Dext.
ReplyDeleteYes, this skit is hilarious! But did it actually air on SNL last weekend? Did I dose off? I sure don't remember it and I don't think I dozed off. Deteriorating brain cells aside, this is the first time I've seen Hamm outside of Mad Men. He's very talented. He's goin' places!
ReplyDeleteloved this skit. Harry & I watched it 4 times in a row... and then again twice Sunday morning. It was the best of the night.
ReplyDeleteThe other highlight: 3 Coldplay songs... I'm sure they were filling in the void left by Amy Poehler's sudden absence. They probably lost a sketch. And they chose my all-time favorite, "Yellow." That band can sing that song in their sleep and sing it perfectly every time!
Fantastic James Mason imitation. Close your eyes and you'd never know the difference.
ReplyDeleteI agree it was about the funniest thing on that evening -- and yes, Amy, it was really there! I can't imagine why NBC doesn't have it on their SNL website as one of the available videos. I was frantically searching for it and finally found it on YouTube -- many thanks to the fella who posted it there. Hope they don't take it down, or if so, put it on on the NBC site, at least.
ReplyDeleteThank goodness for the internet and dedicated fans!!!
I though I would report that NBC has indeed added this to their video clips from last week's show, along with the also hilarious "John Ham" commercial. Better quality on NBC's site, of course, but I'm leaving the original YouTube vid up in honor of the fan who posted it first!
ReplyDeleteI actually sent people to the Flaming Nose to watch this clip because it's so funny. I think other people did that too. Our traffic spiked for the day. You are a ratings winner, Lisa!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure anyone else will read this after the 8 comments already posted, but I have to say I apparently did dose off during SNL. Mark informs me that we couldn't stay awake for the entire program and decided to turn it off. I have no recollection of having made that decision. Sad. Very sad. Obviously very tired. Thanks so much for posting this video, Lisa! Now I've seen what I missed. Also - Scott, I just don't get Coldplay. I thought their performance (and I was definitely awake to see it early in the show) was - in my humble opinion - awful! Don't be mad. I'm sure David Cook will knock everyone's socks off on SNL this Saturday.
ReplyDeleteNote to Jane....remember to set your DVR to record SNL this Saturday. Amy, at least you were awake for part of it. I doubt I could even make it to the "Live...From New York...it's Saturday Night!" I've turned into the most hideous morning person. Up at 5am, and out cold by 10 in the evening.
