Okay, A Little Ad, a Little Idol...Canadian, That Is!

Going back to our posting of memorable commercials, I thought I'd submit a couple of items that illustrate quite handily the Canadian sense of humor, which is a bit different from American, I'd have to say, at least in some circumstances. The first clip is from Canadian Idol, the Great White North version of the popular franchise, where an adorable girl singer from Sydney, Nova Scotia -- well, just watch the clip!

And in response to this incident, Telus created this ad:

Now, really...that kind of good-natured ribbing is SO Canadian! And hilarious! And isn't that gal just charming, too? The wonderfulness of the clip isn't just about what she does, it's how she reacts, so openly and heartily admitting what happened! You can't help but love her. And of course the parrot is terrific, too!

I'm shocked that Amy has not chimed in on this one, since fart jokes are generally top of the list to get us hysterical. Sometimes it's so fun to be low brow. Did anyone ever see the HBO special "The Aristocrats"? It's a bunch of famous comics telling the dirtiest joke ever. Fascinating.

Lisa, every time I see the title of this post it makes me think of, "A little song, a little dance, a little seltzer down your pants!" What does that come from? Was it a Marx Bros thing? Crusty the Clown on the Simpsons?
